Confessions of a Modern Vampire

The wind was cold, it was blowing slowly. And I could feel my body shiver… I feel really cold. I looked up at the dark, gloomy night sky. And I saw the moon, it was in a perfect sphere shape, I would bet it was a full moon. I walked as fast as I could, I didn’t want to see anybody at this moment nor did I want anybody to see me. I don’t want to see any human at this time. I don’t want to take risks right now. I fear that I might do something so outrageous that I would not take the risk. I apprehended that I might do something terrible. I hurriedly walked towards the coven - my parents’ house, without looking back.

But despite the fact that I have prepared for a night like this, I know that I will fail the test. I could smell human blood in a distant, despite the fact that I don’t see any human around. My keen sense of smell never fools me, and it has indeed become stronger. I actually never liked it. But I don’t have a choice.

This is my family’s curse, our misfortune; that we are descendants of Count Vladimir Tepes Dracula. You could ask Bram Stoker for an interview and he absolutely knows about it. LOL

I have always asked my parents if why this has become of us. And they have constantly given us the same answer every time. This is who we are. We are born with that curse, with that disease. We never have the choice. If only I had a choice.

Legends speak of tales that to become a vampire, one must be bitten by a vampire first. A mortal human must be drained to death until no blood run his veins. On the brink of his last breath and the last beat of his dying heart, he must be given blood by the vampire, who sired him, either from his neck or wrist. Then, he must be kept in a place, coffin or room, to constrain and develop his hunger for blood. When he wakes up, by then, he automatically becomes an undead. A new vampire is born.

This legend is true.

But oddly, some vampires are born to vampire couples. Like me and my siblings, my parents are both vampires. And amazingly, I haven’t heard of another coven where the Master Vampire treats their people or creation as their children. And yes, we are our father’s children. Not just his creations, his children, literally. I will try to explain later in the pages as we go along.

In our modern time and with internet-hype generation, who would believe that we still exist? Yes, we do exist. And I am one living proof. And there are hundred of thousands, if not millions more out there. We are living among and with humans… in silence. There are about an estimation of 5-10% of the total population of mortal humans. And that is a huge number.

It is far difficult to carry this legacy. Some people, humans or vampires, may see it odd that I often wish that I was never a vampire.
